How Much Does It Cost To Hire A Wardrobe Stylist

To hire a wardrobe stylist for your next project that involves me asking a lot of questions. How many days are you shooting? How many talent? How many looks per talent? What’s the wardrobe budget? Depending on how many talent and how many shoot days would determine how many prep days I would need. Like any industry my day rate depends on my experience. My current day rate is $950 and I raise it $50 every year. I also charge a kit fee if production has me using hangers, my steamer, rolling racks, and wardrobe of mine. Sometimes clients need smaller scale projects done and I do charge an hourly rate of $200. I know that seems like a lot for an hour of my time but the reality is going back /fourth on emails, billing, paying for all the systems I have in place, and how long it actually takes me verses how much I bill. I need to charge that much.

What does a wardrobe stylist do?

A wardrobe stylist brings in and is in charge of all the wardrobe for production. From head to toe, which means from shoes to hats and everything in between. Making sure the clothes fit and have extra’s sizes just in case they don’t. Wardrobe stylist create looks, or the vibe of an outfit.
