Styling Football Players

What did I know about styling football players before this shoot… nothing. What do I know about styling football players now… almost everything. Initially when I took this job for Wynn Bet shoot I was subbing out for another stylist and the producer wanted me to rent the football uniforms from that stylist. Two business days before the shoot everything changed. The agency wanted different pants, different helmets, different color jersey’s, different colored shoes.

This was during the pandemic and if you can remember getting things shipped over-night was not easy. I got up the next morning and started seeing what I could source locally in Seattle… which was nothing. A lot of business had gone out of business the year before. In particular the uniform store was based in a different city and needed at least 10 days to complete a custom order. There was a resin shortage and finding helmets in a store wasn’t going to happen. Once I figured this out I got on a zoom call with the client and said, I need to on-line rush order everything. Together we walked thru exactly what they wanted for the helmets since everything need to be custom ordered. Scrambling to get everything on time was stressful. I was had backup’s from a rental just in case stuff didn’t show up on time. Because I am always over prepared with worst case options, it always seems to work out. Once box didn’t show up on time but because I had backups I had all my bases covered.

That’s one thing I like about my job, it I am always learning something new and getting pushed out of my comfort zone… even if that means styling football players.
